Reconstitution & storage guide

General information on handling research peptides in a lab setting. For research planning only – not medical, dosing, or therapeutic advice.

Most lyophilised peptides are reconstituted with bacteriostatic water (sterile water containing ~0.9% benzyl alcohol). The benzyl alcohol keeps the solution stable for several weeks under refrigeration.

1. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening - this minimises condensation and protein damage.
2. Wipe the rubber stoppers of both the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial with a clean alcohol swab.
3. Slowly draw the required volume of bacteriostatic water and dispense it down the inside wall of the peptide vial, not directly onto the powder.
4. Gently swirl until fully dissolved. Do not shake - peptides are fragile and shaking can denature them.

Unreconstituted: store sealed in the original vial at -20°C for long-term storage, or at 2-8°C (fridge) if you'll be using within a few weeks.
Reconstituted: keep refrigerated at 2-8°C. Stability varies by peptide but most remain usable for 2-4 weeks.
Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Aliquot if you plan to freeze.
Discard any solution that becomes cloudy, discoloured, or develops particulates.
